Product Description Phil Gordon plays poker with the best players in the world. He has won -- and lost -- in tournaments and cash games around the globe, all the while studying the game and learning from every hand dealt. As the resident expert and cohost of Celebrity Poker Showdown, Phil has quickly become one of the most sought-after teachers of No Limit Texas Hold'em. It's a tough game. But anyone can become a winning player with the right amount of courage, patience, aggression, observation, and, perhaps most important, dedication to becoming a better player. After fifteen years of keeping notes on the things he's learned, the greats he's played with, and the celebrities he's taught, Phil Gordon has poured every single thing he knows about No Limit Texas Hold'em into this little green book. Taking a page from Harvey Penick's bestselling book of golf wisdom, Phil plays the role of both teacher and student, offering up insightful tips on how to think about poker and how to develop a singular style of play. Through philosophy, psychology, strategy, math, and the knowledge gleaned from playing poker with everyone from T. J. Cloutier and Phil Ivey to Hank Azaria and Ben Affleck, Phil breaks down the game into enlightening instructional tidbits and illustrative anecdotes that inspire the kind of persistence and motivation necessary to improve your game. A book to rank with Doyle Brunson's Super System and David Sklansky's The Theory of Poker, Phil Gordon's Little Green Book deserves a spot on the shelf of every serious student of the game.

Best Poker Book by Far for Beginners/Intermediate Players August 29, 2010 jschristian44 I have been playing poker since around 2004. I got the Harrington Hold 'em Volumes 1/2 and a few other poker books. I actually found this one to be the easiest to read by far and had much more valuable information. I do not like to read at all and found the other books very hard to understand. This guy makes you feel like your in his shoes and tells you exactly what to do in certain situations. The tables in the back for which hands to play and stuff are awesome. Anyways, if I were you and your looking to brush up on some poker skills, I would disregard all the rest of the books and just pick this one up. This one has almost all the information as the others but some different as well. Again, just pick this book up if your a beginner or have been playing for a while but never knew the strategies. I am quitting poker because I just couldn't stand up to some professionals out there, so I am selling the book, but if I kept playing I would have read this in it's entirety. I read only halfway through and it was great reading. Your probably going to have to read it at least 3 times until you understand and it influences your game, but it's worth it. I got too addicted to poker which is the reason I am quitting.

This book is really good! February 25, 2010 Happy with it! (Queens, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this to help learn Hold'em and it is an excellent
book! Gordon has the knack for explaining and teaching clearly
so I didn't have to muddle through vague explanations like a lot of
the poker books have. He takes you through hands and explains them step by
step, card by card and makes sense!!!
Gordon knows what he is talking about! He is not just writing a book
to make money! I think most of the poker books out there are just written
to get you spend your money!
I would rate this as one of the top 10 books on poker PERIOD!
Worth it February 21, 2010 jmk (Dayton, OH) I think this is a great book for beginners, and a sort of medium strength resource for players that have been into NLHE for a year or two. The author does a great job of explaining the basics. I also thought he did an extremely good job of reading (for the audio CD). For anyone who isn't a pro and hasn't read Sklansky or Harrington, I would highly recommend this audio CD. It beats the heck out of most radio!
Little Green Book by Phil Gordon February 3, 2010 J. De Maudave Bestel (Gold Coast, Australia) This book is well structured and in a logical order. I have found poker books of the past to be some what all over the place with regard to strategies. Finally a quick reference book for a tight- aggressive poker player.
