Product Description For the last ten years, Winning Low Limit Hold'em has been the reference standard introduction to Texas Hold'em. Experienced hold'em players give this book to their friends who want to learn the game. Recently updated and expanded to include coverage of online poker and no-limit hold'em single-table tournaments, this is the one book that you need to start your hold'em career. "I always thought poker was a game of luck. After reading Lee's book and applying the techniques recommended, it was as if I were in The Matrix. It all came clear to me. I simply saw the truth at the poker table." - Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari, Winner, 2004 L.A. Poker Classic and 2004 World Series of Poker $2000 Pot Limit Hold'em event. "I wish this book had been out when I started playing hold'em, because it is a great way to learn the game. If you want to put yourself on the path to becoming a top hold'em player, Lee's book is the place to start." - Greg Raymer, Champion, 2004 World Series of Poker.

It Takes Work June 26, 2010 Mark Piller (Dallas, TX) I have read 1/5th of the book so far. It is everything I would like it to be... good explanations of how to play each round (when to fold, bid, and raise). Good explanation of reasoning why the choices are made. Especially gives attention to the number of players in the field which most certainly is a very important factor on how to bid.
The main thing you should know is that there is an enormous amount of material and it will require you to read and practice over-and-over. There is no fast track to becoming a good Texas Hold 'em player. Depending upon your goals and available time, you should be able to vastly improve your abilities to become a winner.
I am just a casual player and almost never play for money. I just wanted to understand some of the thinking that goes on behind a game. My understanding from the book is that the very big games we see on TV are played in a very different way. But at least this book gives a perspective that makes watching the game even more enjoyable.
Naive in regards to honesty of online poker sites March 16, 2010 Epicurus Mr. Jones really needs to update the section on online poker sites in future editions. In this edition, he practically dismisses the possibility that the sites would cheat. Unfortunately, major cheating scandals have occurred in several online rooms since this book was published.
Apart from this caveat, this is a useful book.
Best book on low limit holdem February 16, 2010 R. Williams (New Smyrna Beach, FL) This is the most comprehensive book I've seen on how to play low limit holdem. Includes the hands one should play and those that should be folded, betting strategy, categorizing opponents, bankroll considerations, etc. Couple this with Arnold Snyder's book The Poker Tournament Formula and your game will improve tremendously.
This Book Nailed It For Me December 28, 2009 KB (St. Charles County, MO) There are lots of great reviews of this book so I'll keep mine short- I only add it it as a courtesy to the Author. I've played marginal poker for a many years. I played Hold'em poker right after reading this book and can say that 1) it is worth many times the price you will pay for it and 2) I had the most incredible poker night of my life after reading it. I'll leave it at that. This book nailed it for me and I dont think you can go wrong with it. 5 Stars
From losing to winning! What else need be said? November 28, 2009 Catherine Chivhima (Minnesota) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I first began playing hold'em back in 2003. I was playing mostly online low limit games for real money and I was losing. This was unacceptable to me and so being a somewhat bookish person I decided a book on hold'em was what I needed. Since I like to play low limit structured limit games I bought this book. Honestly, it turned me from a losing player into a winning player in one week and I subsequently built my account up to the point where I could withdraw a few checks for several hundred dollars. Unfortunately, my success bread overconfidence, which caused me to begin losing and lose that confidence along with my money. So I took a step back while I was still well ahead. I now play occasionally and am again a winning player. My advice is to read this book, don't play with "scared money," and if you are losing, take a step back and regroup, and maybe even reread this book. It really is that good.
